Ziyue Dai was a participant in the 2021 Virtual Agriculture Professional Practicum. Ziyue is a Bachelor of Agriculture student from The University of Melbourne.
Q: Why did you decide to undertake the ACICIS virtual internship program?
I wanted to make the most use of the uni break and it is a good chance for me to learn different culture.
Q: How have you found the academic components of this virtual program?
These seminars were really useful for me to learn more about Indonesia and the language classes helped me to briefly learn a third language in such a short time.
Q: Which organisation did you intern with?
I interned with Koalisi Rakyat untuk Kedaulatan Pangan (KRKP).
My responsibility was to prepare and hold an international seminar.
Q: How have you found the work culture (albeit online) of your host organisation? How is it different to work experience in Australia?
People at KRKP are all very kind and friendly, they helped us a lot. They are more like a family instead of just co-workers.
Q: What are the main skills you have learnt during your virtual internship?
Teamwork and leadership.
Q: What did you find to be the most rewarding part of this virtual experience?
The virtual internship.
Q: Were you able to learn about the Indonesian culture from this virtual program?
Yes, through the seminars, language classes and internship.
Q: How will the virtual internship benefit or influence your future career?
I have gained the experience of holding an international seminar. In the future, I may be able to hold more.
