About The Asia Foundation

The Asia Foundation is conducting SETAPAK 2 Program, supported by the British Government on Climate Change Unit ( UKCCU ). The program aims to improve forest and land governance in Indonesia, with a focus on increasing transparency and accountability and strengthening rule of law in all decisions around forest and land use, by supporting Indonesia’s vibrant civil society movements and media to play a stronger role in forest and land governance.

Approaches include supporting external oversight of government performance and law enforcement; field monitoring of land use infractions and forestry crimes, and reporting of illegalities. In addition, gender mainstreaming, raising public awareness, and assisting citizens to form constituencies and express their needs and preferences with regard to environmental policies.

The program is operates in eight provinces: Aceh, Riau, South Sumatra, West Sumatra, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, and Central Sulawesi.

Requirements

  • Understand the basics of writing, and editing
  • Provide at least one writing sample related to environmental / forestry issues
  • Own laptop
  • Copy of ID
  • Commit to behave in accordance with The Asia Foundation work ethics

Intern Duties (Example)

The duties in this internship are widely varied; the intern will be expected to engage in all of them with equal enthusiasm. In addition, successful applicants will demonstrate a helpful role, teachable attitude, and be capable of working steadily with minimal supervision – whether alone or in a group. One preferred duty is management of the database of media/journalistic publications in related fields.

  • Reviewing and compiling project monitoring reports for evaluation, or other reporting documents
  • Assisting with media and communication strategy

Work Hours

SETAPAK 2 requires interns to work 8 hours a day from Monday – Friday (40 hours per-week) during the internship period.

The Interns will be placed in The Asia Foundation office, in Jakarta.
